immanence / incarnation [Sep. 19th, 2010|02:26 pm]
I occupy a place in once-occurrent Being that is unique and never-repeatable, a place that cannot be taken by anyone else and is impenetrable for anyone else. In the given once-occurent point where I am now located, no one else has ever been located in the once-occurrent time and once-occurrent space of once-occurrent Being. And it is around this once-occurrent point that all once-occurrent Being is arranged in a once-occurrent and never-repeatable manner. That which can be done by me can never be done by anyone else.

- Mikhael Bakhtin, early 1920s

pedagogy [Jun. 8th, 2010|12:42 pm]
Government doesn't own the people an education, for the simple reason that one doesn't owe people what they can take for themselves. And education is like liberty: it isn't given; it's taken.

the New York art scene [Apr. 18th, 2010|03:13 pm]
Being-with-one-another in the "they" is by no means an indifferent side-by-side-ness in which everything has been settled, but rather an intent, ambiguous watching one another, a secret and reciprocal listening-in. Under the mask of "for-one-another", an "against-one-another" is in play.

embodied language [Apr. 18th, 2010|03:07 pm]
Is it an accident that proximally and for the most part significations are 'worldly', sketched out beforehand by the significance of the world, that they are indeed often predominantly 'spatial'?

un-Chomsky [Apr. 18th, 2010|03:06 pm]
A doctrine of signification will not emerge automatically even if we make a comprehensive comparison of as many languages as possible, and those which are most exotic.

i have nothing to say and i am saying it [Apr. 18th, 2010|03:04 pm]
To be able to keep silent, Dasein must have something to say -- that is, it must have at its disposal an authentic and rich disclosedness of itself.

words, words ,words [Apr. 18th, 2010|03:03 pm]
Speaking at length about something does not offer the slightest guarantee that thereby understanding is advanced. On the contrary, talking extensively about something, covers it up and brings what is understood to a sham clarity -- the unintelligibility of the trivial.

molar language / dis-Cage [Apr. 18th, 2010|03:02 pm]
It requres a very artificial and complicated frame of mind to 'hear' a 'pure noise.'

embodied language [Apr. 18th, 2010|03:01 pm]
Being-in and its state-of-mind are made known in discourse and indicated in language by intonation, modulation, the tempo of talk, 'the way of speaking'.
